A select group of academics and professionals were appointed to the position of Advisors of Taipei City Government (hereinafter “Advisors”) in order to advance municipal development and improving the administrative infrastructure. With their expertise, these Advisors are expected to provide guidance for policy implementation citywide. In addition, to ensure that the exit mechanism, potential conflicts of interest and legislation of hiring, appointment and dismissal are subject to comprehensive suite of regulations, which the Guidelines for Selecting Advisors of Taipei City Government (hereinafter “Guidelines”) were promulgated.
According to the Guidelines, Advisors shall serve without remuneration in 22 different groups designated according to the nature of administrative duties and fields of expertise, with their two-year term ending along with the Mayor’s departure, unless they resign due to personal issues or are dismissed under conditions mentioned in Article 8 of the Guidelines.
